The first Amazon Fresh grocery store in the DC area will open in Franconia on Thursday, May 27. The 30,000-square-foot store will occupy part of the former Shoppers space at the Festival at Manchester Lakes shopping center at 7005 C Manchester Boulevard, Franconia. This will be the 13th Amazon Fresh store in the nation. According to, "The new concept Amazon Fresh stores offer a variety of national brands, produce, meat, seafood, and prepared foods made fresh in-store. The store will carry 365 by Whole Foods Market organic brand products, national brands like Coca-Cola and Kraft Mac and Cheese; local brands like Mason Dixie Biscuits, Bread Furst Bakery, and Taharka Brothers Ice Cream, regional picks like Duke's Mayo and Boston Chowda, and new Amazon-exclusive brands like Aplenty, Fresh and Cursive. Prepared foods include options fresh-baked bread, made-to-order pizzas, rotisserie chickens, and hot sandwiches." As per, "Amazon Prime members can get a free same-day pickup from the store. Customers can also skip the checkout line through the Amazon Dash Cart or use Alexa features to manage their shopping lists and navigate store aisles.
