The popular Hollin Hills Home & Garden Tour is set for Saturday, May 2 from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are available for sale now for this tour. The neighborhood of modern homes is located five miles south of Old Town Alexandria. The 326-acre neighborhood was built from the late 1940s to the early 1970s by developer Robert Davenport and architect Charles Goodman.
According to Alexandria Living Magazine, “Recognized for its architectural and design vision, Hollin Hills was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013 and is a Virginia Landmark Historic District. The self-guided walking tour, scheduled rain or shine, will showcase examples of mid-century modern architecture, landscaping and interior design. All ticket holders are required to check-in at registration to receive a wristband and program that includes a listing and map of all the homes and gardens open during the tour.”
As per Alexandria Living Magazine, “New this year: “Cars and Coffee” will feature dozens of vintage and antique automobiles from the mid-century era, including the opportunity to chat with the owners and other classic car enthusiasts. “Morning Yoga” will feature an all-abilities class to help get the blood pumping before a day of touring the neighborhood. More details on those two events will be coming later this winter. Tickets are $50; VIP tickets ($80) will get you into the tour an hour early as well as a commemorative poster or other promotional items.”
